I think all sane Americans of good will can agree that something happening to Obama would be just about the worst thing to happen to our political system since those three terrible days in the 1960s. The abiding problem is that not all Americans are sane -- especially those of the political persuasion. That those who hate Bush have, over the past eight years, made an attempt on the life of Barrack Obama more probable is not at all ironic. It is horrifying and to their shame.

So "Bush hate" is a gateway hate to worse crimes? I am not sure I follow.

I find the ridicule of the obamamaniacs ridiculously amusing.

A trillion dollars. All our civil liberties. Hundreds of thousands dead in Iraq. Failing to protect the twin towers with plenty of warning. Yeah, it probably is my fault if someone shoots Obama.

even immigrating to Canada has only slightly dulled my rage, so here goes: 4000 dead soldiars, 30000 wounded badly, 2 stolen elections, political suppression of climate problems. Jesus I could go on all day.

smkenzie: none of those is a reason to fawn over obama. just reasons to hate bush, right?

Am i missing something? Obama seems fine. Nothing wrong with him. But he is not the second coming of Siddartha. or whatever

No he is not. There are a handful of policy issues that I feel make him the best candidate. I think it strange that he has rock star status, but he is a good speaker... icing on the cake.

first: Iraq. Only candidate that has a chance of getting in that was against the war at the same time I was protesting in the streets.

it did make me nervous when they announced that they had stopped screening for weapons at his last texas rally (in dallas, no less). my mind immediately went into oliver stone mode, imagining the clinton-DNC machine setting "project book depository" in motion.

there is a lot to like and lots of reasons for people to want to shoot him that have nothing to do with my hatred of Bush.

smkenzie23, you paranoid freak: how did this become a conversation about him being shot? you're a weirdo.

Clinton is good on most issues (other than the ones enumerated above). But above and beyond her policy deficiencies she is using Rovian swift boat lies in the campaign (Lessig's words, not mine).

Not denying I'm a paranoid freak, but it does say "That those who hate Bush have, over the past eight years, made an attempt on the life of Barrack Obama more probable is not at all ironic" in the post.
