Despite the fact that several turkey-eating holidays are about six months away, we were discussing deep frying turkeys. Someone mentioned that Underwriters Laboratories, which tests many products for safety and gives their seal of approval to ones that pass, refuses to certify deep fat turkey fryers because of how dangerous they are. I found a YouTube video with some UL tests of the fryers showing how dangerous they are. Several links in the margin go to videos showing the disasters of unsafe turkey frying.

My brother has done turduckens in a deep fryer every year for ages, never had any troubles - but I'm going to show him this!

Has he ever made a turducken with Easter candy?

No, he hasn't. I did once design a vegetarian squash turducken and a dessert turducken though.

Dessert turducken? What kind of dessert?

A blueberry, inside a grape, inside a strawberry, inside an apricot, inside a peach, inside a very cored apple or pear, inside something yet to be decided (carefully hollowed out grapefruit???) inside a small melon.

And then "deep fried" in syrup to be like a warm compote

Deep-fried turkeys and turduckens are quintessentially American ideas: take a simple, family-focused thing and turn it into a complete spectacle.
