i'll probably lose geek points for this, but: i just don't care. i mean, i understand why people are excited/upset/interested in this, but does it really matter in the long run? there's other stuff out there that does what Digg does (Babbledog?), and while Google is the 900-pound gorilla of the internet, but they won't be forever. the intarweb will change (again), and this won't mean a darned thing.
Aaaaaand.... Google walks away. So frustrating!
digg can't catch a break. the story implies that there was either (1) a serious technology/IP problem or (2) a serious cultural mismatch in the team. (2) doesn't seem unlikely since google are hardcore geeks and digg founders are technically savvy but more much media-oriented than technology-oriented. i don't know what (1) would be.
