The future architecture of libraries
The future of libraries is a hot topic in some circles as technology seems to be replacing books and altering library collections. What will happen to the buildings that house the collections and provide space for people to use them and gather together? A slideshow in Slate provides some clues based on recent public library architecture.

todd: the library of the future is virtual. there will be no places that are like libraries of today. which is both great and a shame. it's great because physical books are a pain in the ass and it will be great when they're gone. but it's terrible because these places are *beautiful* and i hate to think that we will not have beautiful spaces to work/think/read in just because we don't need a place to shove the books.

David S.: From a visionary, this could be really cool. (Also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_of_babel.)
