Massachusetts launches program to help suicidal veterans
At a time when people often accuse the military of not doing enough for veterans and suicides are on the rise, people in Massachusetts set up a program to help veterans deal with emotional issues and navigate through a complex system so they can get the help they need.
"A significant part of suicide prevention is helping veterans through the maze of services and benefits accorded them by the government and 'hold their hand as they go through the process,' said Samuel Hamm, a Navy seaman who served in Kosovo and western Africa."
Since the program began in February, they've already assisted 180 people, 10 of whom were likely to commit suicide.
