Chuck: I always like the solutions to us meddling in the environment to more meddling in some other part of the environment that will most likely cause some other disaster that we could have never pictured.

Jim Cowie: mmmmm, shrimp

David S.: You won't need to pump---it will find the path of least resistance and fill those holes all by itself.

todd: Chuck: that's a valid concern, but what would you propose we do? global warming is a reality and not something that will change over the next 50 years or so. There's just too much carbon.

todd: The early can't "heal" itself in time for the seas to not rise even if we stop emiting CO2 right now. So active intervention is required
Posted Jan 30, 2008

todd: I suppose that's not fair. Y'all could be in favor of just letting the seas rise. That will kill off 500m - 1.3b people. which will probably help carbon emmissions in the long run.

Chuck: I agree that there is an issue, I don't want to just go do something that will cause more problems without testing it first. Everybody seems to have a ”solution” to the problem, but I don't think they spend enough time really thinking it through.

todd: Yeah, there's no real urgency to this. Sea level will rise but not instantaneously. But this is definitely something worth pursuing. Further study is needed, for sure.
