Can't I fly to Uruguay and beat up a kid and take his XO for less than that?
Knowing someone is already selling the machines on eBay for a huge profit makes me sad. It just seems wrong to me. I'm curious about what the winning bid will be, though.
Shimon: Yeah, but it wouldn't be in an unopened box
I think that one has a buy it now link only (no bidding) as far as I can tell. Looking at ebay, looks like olpcs are going for about $250.
jessica: they're advertising at a price that would make them a huge product; they may or may not actually sell at that price. My guess is they won't actually realize that profit.
Never underestimate the foolishness of people who buy things off eBay.
Completed auctions are going for between $300 and 400. One went for over $1k though. Crazy, silly, and IMO, pretty stupid.
hey, i'm checking out their other items... voodoo dolls, ritual oils and candle spells... i love eBay.
ebay is great.... for sellers.
Gee, no one has purchased these computers yet ...
What is the retail on them $200?
colby: not really. it's $200 + a $200 donation (buy one give one). and even then, they're not really for sale right now. you can only buy one when they're available. hence the jacked up auction prices.
That's right, thanks todd. It is like the PLaysttion 3 and Nintendo wii craze
The beauty of bidding fever. It's no wonder "buyer's remorse" is in the common lexicon. Maybe "I just pulled an Ebay" to indicate I did/bought/said something in the heat of the moment.
heh. i like it. i'm going to try to start using it and see how it feels and whether i can make it catch on.
Someone's selling an XO for $360 via Craig's List.
dammit. the front page of babbledog cut that off at "$36" for me and i thought i found a good deal
lol How disappointing! Bad dog!
In other news, the original two XOs are still available
