"Pripyat is deteriorating by the day, and most of the city is not expected to last the 2008/2009 winter. This would be my sole opportunity to capture this surreal place and it had to be done within a few hours. Luckily the weather was on our side, we had patchy cloud which diffused the sulight nicely, helping to convey the dull eery mood of the city. You know when people visit Auschwitz and say the birds don't sing? They don't here either."
