I actually haven't used a sustain pedal, but I think it is much more than that. You can sustain/mute strings individually, plus some othere interesting effects.

To me all of slide's apps are novelties (slideshows, superpoke). I still think there is a lot of room for meaningful apps that may not be more popular, but get better engaged audiences.

I agree that there is an issue, I don't want to just go do something that will cause more problems without testing it first. Everybody seems to have a ”solution” to the problem, but I don't think they spend enough time really thinking it through.

Hrm... I read somewhere that the next version of OpenOffice will have Google Docs integration. It will be interesting to see how this progresses.

It is an interesting idea. When I went to look at a couple of topics though, the interface seemed quite clumsy and confusing. My initial impression is that the system would be too complicated for a broad audience, and would only be interesting to those that are the most vocal about topics.
