about me:

Chris Travis wears many hats. He is the Managing Partner of Sentient Architecture, LLC, a full service architecture firm. He is the CEO of Nidiant Corporation, an Internet start-up that has recently launched the Truehome.net website. He is the editor, publisher and writer of the regional quarterly, the Round Top Register and the creator of the Truehome Workshop. He is a poet, and the author of Deadspace Poetry, a book of poems and images. As a builder and designer, Mr. Travis has served as a consultant and lead designer for residential and commercial projects in Texas since 1975. He is an expert in historic design and the restoration of indigenous Texas historic structures. One of his projects was awarded a T. C. Jester award for excellence in historic design in the historic Houston Heights. The construction firm he founded, Round Top Companies, is one of the premier high-end residential design-builders in Texas. For twenty-five years - until he sold the firm to his oldest son - Mr. Travis designed and constructed residential projects ranging to over $2,000,000 in scope. The company still builds historic commercial projects, new homes in historic styles, moves and restores antique buildings, log cabins and other historic properties. Mr. Travis’ company was named Remodeler of the Year by the Greater Houston Builder’s Association. His projects have appeared in the New York Times, Builder magazine, in CountryLiving, Cowboys and Indians, Houston Home and Garden, Home Companion, Sun Coast Magazine and Texas Highways. His work was displayed in the PBS documentary, Digital Nation, in which Mr. Travis played a significant on-screen role. Mr. Travis is also the editor and publisher of the regional humor and commentary newspaper, the Round Top Register, and in this regard has been the subject of articles in Editor and Publisher and the New York Times – which called it the “…Prairie Home Companion of the Lone Star State.” The Register’s website was named one of the Top Ten Media Websites in Texas by Texas Monthly. Mr. Travis’ book of poetry and images, Deadspace Poetry, was compiled from poems he had published in the Round Top Register between 1995 an 2001. Chris is also the CEO of Nidiant Corporation, the parent company on a new website called Truehome.net. Truehome's web-based software takes users on a fun, insightful journey to their ideal home. The exercises and organizational tools combine psychology, architecture, and lifestyle analysis to enable consumers and professionals to identify, organize, prioritize, and communicate every detail of a living space. The website was recently launched in beta form and will soon be marketed to consumers, real estate agents, architects, interior designers and therapists. Mr. Travis and his wife are also the founders of the Round Top Family Library, a full service public library that also serves the community as an academic enrichment resource.

That is what we are trying to correct with the Truehome Workshop and our Truehome.net website. Because we believe everyone should have access to a home that fits their values, lifestyle, budget, tastes and circumstances.
